Learn Traditional Climbing
Traditional climbing, or “trad” climbing, is a style of rock climbing in which a climber places all gear (cams, wire, hex’s, threads and other devices) required to protect against any falls, and is removed by the second by hand only.
The foundation of this ethic is “that the rock is not damaged in anyway”, no holes are drilled and no hammers are used.
A pure Traditional line does not have bolts and pitons or other fixed protection.
The majority of routes in the UK are Traditional. Longer routes across Europe and the rest of the world also tend to be in this style.
Just you, your equipment and your movement and protection skills stands between success or failure.
5 Days Costa Blanca £695.00
No previous experience is necessary, but it would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of basic personal protection equipment and belaying skills.
Will cover all aspects of traditionally placed protection whilst seconding and leading, both single and multi pitch routes, belaying from below and above, building belay stances, understanding the various grading systems.
On completion, you will have a much deeper understanding and appreciation of hand placed protection equipment, be in a position to competently second harder traditionally protected routes, be able to lead easier traditional routes more safely.
